Hey All!
We're here at the Camarillo Airport for Wings Over Camarillo. Lots of people, and lots of wind! Everyone is having fun here and watching all the airplanes.
There's a hot dog and shaved ice vendor across from us, and we moved our booth up to the main drag. The Child ID folks are on one side, and the face painting booth is on the other.
Looking forward to more sales this afternoon!
Robyn is here with me and we are havig a great time!

AirVenture 2009 comes to a close.

This has been great. We'll see in a while how many YAY! PLANES DVDs sold, but no matter how many, I had a great time twlling families about the video.

Today I had the appearance at KidVenture and the house was packed with families looking for activities for the kids. A few even stopped by the Hero Stage to watch the video and color some paper bag puppets. Everybody had a great time!

Thanks to American Airlines for donating squeezy balls, luggage tags, and wings to the cause. Everyone likes leaving with something extra.

Gotta Hustle

After a great first signing appearance, and first day at the author tables, I've come away with this.

1. If you don't engage the folks walking by, you won't sell.
2. Kids coloring paper bag puppets of Argyle & Jim is awesome.
3. Yes, the advice was right on, as long as you're sincere and enthusiastic you'll do fine.
4. Frozen custard and an airshow after a day of telling people all about YAY! PLANES is a welcome treat.

On to tomorrow. Signing, then speaking. Hope I have enough paper bag puppets and crayons.

Rainy morning. Good day...

Last night's cool breeze coming through the window of my host house gave way to rain overnight. Dawn came through with more rain, but now I see some blue poking through the clouds.
Looks like it will shape up to be a pretty good day.
This morning, I have the first of two signing appearances at the EAA merchandise Warehouse. It should be a lot of fun. I'll screen YAY! PLANES and sign (and hopefully selll!) Some DVDs.
The airshow is a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to Day 2.

On Wisconsin!

Hit the road early this morning out of Chicago bound for Oshkosh. Aside from the construction, things moved pretty well and I'm well on my way. About an hour left.
Saw the Harley Davidson factory, passed Cheese Castle, and the Briggs & Stratton factory.
The weather is nice and I look forward to seeing some folks on the Hero Stage and at the Authors Corner so I can get a lay of the land.

What's great about the highway? A Shell station with a built in Dunkin' Donuts. Good Morning!!!

Pre-Flight Checklist...

Getting ready to leave for Chicago, then on up to Oshkosh.
It was as I left work, and had packed up my office, and turned on the air conditioning when it FINALLY hit me that YAY! PLANES is being sold at the biggest airshow in the world! I got this big grin, and just let out a big YAA HOO!!!! Last year, all I wanted to do with YAY! PLANES was to have it appeal to the core group of pilots and their kids. Now, I guess I get to test that out.
I have to thank all the great people at EAA (the Experimental Aircraft Association) for inviting me to AirVenture 2009.

Argyle & Jim? Check.
Crayons? Check.
Sharpies? Check.
Paper Bag Puppets? Check!

Hope for a great time at AirVenture? CHECK!!

AirVenture Checklist

Okay, so I'm off to AirVenture 2009 to promote YAY! PLANES. Speaking on the KidVenture Hero Stage at 10:00am on Sunday, August 2nd (happy birthday, MOM!) Signing copies of the DVD and talking with people on Saturday and Sunday the 1st and 2nd.

So what to bring?
1. Argyle & Jim
2. Sharpie markers for signing.
3. Argyle & Jim autographed headshot photos
4. Extra DVDs (hopefully!)
5. Paper bag puppets
6. Crayons
7. Good attitude and fun!

Woo Hoo!!

YAY! PLANES, the DVD for kids who LOVE airplanes, is now available!

here. Ahead lies the next leg where we get to hear all about kids who
are loving to watch Argyle & Jim as the teach about airplanes and
flying.

Back from Oshkosh... Ready to Go Back!

I have to thank all the people who I met at AirVenture '08 while promoting YAY! PLANES.

You were so supportive of the project, and it was nice to meet people who were so absolutely fanatical about aviation and the freedom which flying brings. It strengthened my love of airplanes, and reinforced the spirit which continues to drive YAY! PLANES forward.
Upon my return, I have sent the prototype DVDs out to families and the response back from their little ones is overwhelmingly positive!
Soon enough, YAY! PLANES will be available for online ordering.

AirVenture Day #2 - It's Great!

So the day begins with a hearty breakfast at my host's house. Good
coffee great eggs. Ready for the day.
I hit up the Media HQ at the convention and stake my claim for the
YAY! PLANES digital press kits among everyone vying for attention on
the tables there. Alright, we're all squared away now.
I head off to recruit some willing vendors to carry the YAY! PLANES
postcard on the tables in their respective booths. Lo and behold, the
great people at TrickAir say yes. They make retrofit, easy on and off
skis for planes. That looks like fun landing on snow! Trickair.com
Other additions to the growing YAY! PLANES support structure are the
fine folks at Scion Aviation scionaviation.com, DataToys.com digital
video systems, Jetpark Daytona jetparkdaytona.com , and B&S Aircraft
Parts and Accessories bsaircraft.com
Best of all, I will be interviewed tomorrow morning by Bob Burnall on
WOSH 1490 AM here in Oshkosh! They stream the feed to the web, so do a
search for WOSH and listen in at 7:50 am Central time.
I also got to learn more about mytransponder.com from its founder, Rod
Rakic. We grabbed lunch today at Ace's Cafe.
Whew. What a day.

Oshkosh Day #1 - A Successful Start

Well, It sure is big! Nothing could have prepared me for the sheer
size of this place. It puts into perspective just how important the
Experimental Aviation Association is to the longevity of aviation.
Without the EAA I don't know what would happen. After seeing it with
my own eyes, it's like if the Red Cross suddenly didn't have blood.
The EAA is that important.
I hope that the word is getting out about YAY! PLANES because I have
talked to a bunch of people today that were wholly encouraging.
The folks at the EAA Media HQ were really helpful and our Digital
Press Kits are to be had there. I met some great people with Aero-News
Network that were very supportive, and we may get some coverage with
them (fingers crossed).
Additionally, I was invited by a real enthusiastic guy to participate
in a forum about social networking amongst the aviation community. He
runs a blog called jetwhine.com (www.jetwhine.com) and is a huge
proponent of encouraging the aviation community to keep talking about
what keeps us fired up about planes.
Moreover, he introduced a guy named Rod Rakic who is starting a
full-bore social networking site for aviation enthusiasts, called
mytransponder.com (http://www.mytransponder.com). I know that they're
beta testing right now but it looks to be a great effort.

Day one is done! Time for some shut eye.
